The Walker County Master Gardeners’ “Planting Your Spring Vegetable Garden” workshop will be hosted at the Huntsville Public Library on February 19, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, in the Library’s Community Room.
Master Gardeners will discuss tips about fertilization, weed and insect control, plant selection and harvesting guidelines, composting, and mulching.
Walker County Master Gardeners are members of the local community who have been accepted into the Texas Master Gardener training program. They have attended 50 hours of instruction and have committed 50 hours of volunteer service to Walker County’s Texas Cooperative Extension program to attain certification.
The group is committed to educating others in the community about a variety of horticulture-related topics, according to the Library’s Adult Services Coordinator, Mary Kokot. Their workshops and presentations are presented in an engaging manner that is conducive to learning.
Door prizes will be awarded. Sign up for this free workshop at MyHuntsvilleLibrary.com or contact Mary Kokot, Adult Services Coordinator, at 936-291-5471, for additional information.
